Overall Objective: Collaboration and Innovation


To develop a fundamental understanding of the elements of highly successful collaboration which contribute most effectively to scientific advancement, especially to the innovation process
In a way that

	Provides recommendations regarding best tools, practices, strategies, and mechanisms for effective remote and face-to-face collaboration
	Facilitates information exchange within and among various thrust areas
	Employs the STC-ERSP leadership team as a platform to study research management tools regarding innovation
	Improves understanding and reports to NSF regarding -     best management practices and policies to         foster a productive environment for fundamental       research and innovation -     effective but non-obstructive commercial       gate-keeping practices
	Develops workshops to train students to improve skills for collaboration and innovation
	Develops a survey-feedback instrument to gain insight for upgrading STC “product” among a diverse group of stakeholders
	Employs proven collaborative techniques to enhance outreach programs

So that the STC-ERSP becomes a model of efficiency in conducting cross-cutting fundamental research and in translating understanding into commercial processes.
