Project Team 3 Objectives

To develop a thorough understanding of factors affecting polymeric materials, their structure and function, and processing utilizing CO2, including VLE and its prediction

In a way that:

·       Explains enhanced solubility of certain molecules in CO2 through specific interactions

·        Develops VLE and solubility data supporting polymerization processes

·        Develops basic understanding of film-forming and separation processes in CO2 at surfaces, including equilibrium and rate behavior

·        Develops basic data supporting foaming processes and reactive extrusion

·        Enhances blend miscibility, plasticization and rheology control

·        Elucidates the static and dynamic rheological properties of associating polymer/colloid systems and CO2-swollen polymer melts

So that new processing technology providing novel structures and properties can be developed rationally, rapidly and at low cost.
